The Canadian Diabetes Association founded in 1953, is the leading diabetes organisation of Canada. It is similar to the American Diabetes Association, Diabetes UK, and the Diabetes Australia-NSW. Its mission [1] is to "to promote the health of Canadians through diabetes research, education, service, and advocacy."

The Canadian Diabetes Association undertakes a number of activities covering extending advice to professionals and diabetes health care personnel to dissemination of information for prevention and better management of diabetes. It has branches covering at least 150 communities across Canada. The publications by the Canadian Diabetes Association include the following:

  • Canadian Journal of Diabetes: It is the leading Canadian journal exclusively dealing with latest diabetes related contents for diabetes health care professionals.
  • Canadian Diabetes: It is a quarterly publication presenting information about clinical aspects of diabetes management
  • The Diabetes Communicator: It is a 16-page newsletter periodically sent to around 2,200 diabetes educators across Canada.
